By the Grace of God I’ve Tried to Make the Best Of It

By the Grace of God I’ve Tried to Make the Best Of It

“Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted.” — Psalms 25:16

Due to various childhood trauma and circumstances, and the unique way I responded to them, I (and I’m not going to say it was some cruel trick or predestination of God) my 66 years of life have predominantly been of longing, loneliness and affliction.

It is what it is and by the grace of God I’ve tried to make the best of it, like a person with a handicap. I did blame God from the very beginning, even as young boy at the age of 5, but over the years realized that He, My heavenly Father, was not to blame.

I can’t blame anyone for my responses to being wronged here on earth.

They are my free will choice.

So, loneliness is feeling unhappy about being socially isolated or for some, the false perception of not being loved. Perhaps their needs, expectations or extra capacities disappoint or let them down.

Almost any woman in the world can relate to the letdown of their idea of a Prince Charming and the actual relationship in the flesh.

Perhaps some of the loneliest people are in a loveless marriage?

For me, I’ve identified that I want love, perhaps a perfect relationship.

Why not?

Who wants a mediocrity?

I think the Bible defines the ultimate, perfect relationship as that between God the Father and God the Son; perfect love, perfect harmony and perfect union from eternity past, broken only once on the cross when Christ took my sin upon Himself, my sin nature.

What Are the Benefits of Being Grateful?

It seems engrained in humans to know and understand a concept of a higher eternal laws.

Even children respond to “happily ever after” with that rare, unique union and love of their one and only prince or princess.

The idea is that they will never be alone ever again.

There are a lot of things associated with loneliness but there is a loneliness that, at the core, is an unmet or unrealized or partially realized or undeveloped need.

It can be a need for the idea of perfect love, intimacy, unity, harmony of spirit, commonality, total acceptance, approval, understanding, closeness affection or expressions of love in everyday things.

It’s the communication of love or on many levels, the giving of one’s self. The trust, risk, the enjoyment of that person, and if you are lucky, the whole person.

You may benefit from their intelligence, creativity, attributes, talents, personality, temperament and other things.

The degree that they choose to love you, their pursuit,  the passion, the commitment,  the exclusivity,  self-sacrifice and their ability to believe in and accept the live offered is all a part of the thing that erases loneliness.

So, I believe that with each human there is a soul loneliness, a longing for God, a longing to be one with your Creator.

As a Christian I believe that when I am in heaven with Christ that finally my loneliness will be erased for all eternity.

Life from Non-life. Is it Possible?

Life from Non-life. Is it Possible?

Life from Non-life. Is it Possible?

Many scientists say evolution is a done deal. Is it really? To this day, scientists have not been able to produce life coming from non-life, even in the most perfect conditions in laboratories the world over.

It’s not for lack of trying.

Many scientists are obsessed with proving evolution actually happened, and have worked on making life come from non-life in their own laboratories.

If they have not been able to reproduce the catalyst or mechanism for life springing from a non-living entity, how can they say that evolution is even remotely possible?

After decades of trying to reproduce life in these perfect conditions, many of these scientists have come to believe life is very complex to the extreme.

Darwin believed life sprang from the primordial soup in a basic non complex form. He had no idea how that would happen because it was way beyond his pay grade of understanding in 1840.

He just believed scientists would figure it out in future generations.

After 150 years they have not.

Not Even Close

There is absolutely no living organism on this planet today that is not complex even right down to living cells.

From the very smallest forms of life to the largest, the complexities are amazing.

Life from Non-life. Is it Possible?

Every year biological scientists gather in a central location in Europe, and review the new discoveries in the field.

Evolution is always on top of the list, and the big question that is asked every year, “has anyone of their colleagues” come up with the solution to reproducing life coming from non-life in their labs.

It would be a real feather in the cap of any scientists who would discover how this happened. They would be revered among all their colleagues for years to come.

Evolution, is many scientist’s Holy Grail or even their god.

Evolutionary biologists believe that evolution is a done deal, and have fooled the general public that it is, but truth be told, there is nothing done about it.

It’s actually quite undone.

Many average people put these great researchers and so-called great thinkers on such a high pedestal and believe everything they say because they do not have even have the basic understanding of the problems these scientists are facing.

Those who believe that natural selection explains the development of new totally different species speak in generalities about evolution and claim that any changes developed over millions of years.

Do the fossils speak to this?

That’s where much disagreement has sprung. How to interpret fossils is far from conclusive. There is something called the Cambrian explosion, an event that happened 541 million years ago, when practically all major animal phyla started appearing in the fossil record.

In other words, animal groups and their great diversity showed up out of nowhere in the fossil record. There were no transitional fossils going from basic life forms, to more advanced ones. Thousands of animal groups just appeared in the fossils.

A broken record to be sure!

Life from Non-life. Is it Possible?

Astronomers and Evolutionary Biologists talk about the conditions in the universe to produce life. With the billions and billions of galaxies in our visible universe surely life must be on some of those.

You constantly hear in the news how it is possible that we have life on other planets in our own solar system like Mars, Venus and some of the moons of the gas giant planets.

All of it is just conjecture and unproven.

In a field that prides itself on reproducible experiments, they have none!

If you are a fellow scientist and bring up the problems with the evolutionary paradigm, you will be attacked by other scientists.

If you are a teacher in high school or college and bring up the problems, they will seek to have you fired.

What is amazing to me, is that many Christians believe in evolution.

Why? Do they not understand or believe what the bible says about who created all life, especially humans? Why do they allow the secular world to dictate what they should believe in, even if it is wrong and unscientific.

I wrote a blog that you should read “Evolution and an Age of Confused Children”

There are many objections by scientists who work in the fields of Microbiology, Biophysics, Bacteriology, Biochemistry, Quantum Chemistry and the study of DNA. They are ringing the alarm that evolution has many problems and they are voicing their concerns.

I found a website called “Dissent from Darwinism” that lists over 1,000 scientists worldwide who have come together to voice their objections. I was shocked at how many there were and the diverse scientific fields they came from.

Life from Non-life. Is it Possible?

Dr. Stephen C. Meyer, has written a book that has taken the science world by storm called “Darwin’s Doubt”. A scientist himself, he points out from a scientific standpoint why there are many problems with this theory. It is a hard book to understand, in that he goes into detail on many aspects of how life works and functions. You can find Dr. Meyer’s on his Website.

My advice to you, as a Christian, is do some research of your own on where man came from for the sake of yourself, your family, and friends and try to think deeply on the question of all questions, that has haunted mankind since the beginning.

“Where did we come from?”

Can you answer that with confidence as if your life depended on it?

Casting My Dice with Jesus

Casting My Dice with Jesus

Casting My Dice with Jesus

This may sound a bit corny, but you only have one chance at eternal love.

You know that any human that you love will eventually die, but the only other option that I have seen offered by anyone or anything is an Eternal God who loves you, who created you and who wants to have a relationship with you for the rest of eternity.

That is your only good option. All other options are finite and temporary. I believe that Jesus Christ took on the form of a finite human man so that he could unite us to the possibility of infinite love in Him.

Imagine having a relationship that only got better and better and better for the rest of eternity.

I’m casting my dice with Jesus.

I’m putting all my eggs in one basket.

I am willing to choose Jesus.

It’s like winning the ultimate lottery and Jesus’s work, obedience and sacrifice made it possible.

When they had crucified him, they divided up His clothes by casting lots.

Can You Admit You Are Wrong?

Can You Admit You Are Wrong?

Can You Admit You Are Wrong?

How hard is it for you to admit you are wrong about something? How about admitting that to those close to you, like your wife, children, or people at work, or someone that you may not have seen eye-to-eye with in the past?

Let’s face it, admitting you have been wrong takes a certain amount of humility. Your self-esteem takes a real hit.

Romans 12:3 says “For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.”

Philippians 2:3-4 “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.”

I know it has been very hard for me at times in my life to admit I have been wrong, especially with my wife. If I admit I am wrong, my brain shoots back to my childhood where everyone seemed to consider me as not very intelligent.

My teachers in first and second grade and my family thought I was of low IQ (and still does) because of attention deficit (they did not name it that in the 1950’s) but called it retarded.

Everyone was convinced I was retarded.

They sent me to a counselor when I was 7 or 8 years old for help with my cognitive skills. After one session he told my parents that my IQ was not low but that I needed to have my hearing checked.

They did and found my hearing was very bad. I had lost hearing completely in one ear and about 50% in the other. That is why everyone thought I was ignoring them.

I had exceptionally bad earaches as a child and would scream for hours on end because of the pain. Eventually the doctors took out my tonsils which turned out to be the cause of the infection in both ears.

By that time the damage was done, and my hearing would never improve.

The damage was also done in my psyche in my early years of child development.

That mindset has followed me my whole life so when I have had a problem where something did not work or I have to admit that I am wrong about something,  it shoots me back to feeling stupid and retarded.

That feeling has been lurking in the back of my brain all my life and has done damage in many of my past relationships, especially with my wife.

God has been working on this issue with me since I became a Christian, but it is not totally gone. I have become much better with her, but it still raises its ugly head from time to time.

Funny thing is that I have noticed when I do admit I was wrong about something with her, she finds it very hard to forgive me, at least right away.

She also finds it much harder to admit she was wrong about something.

I think many wives are like that. Why is that?

I think it’s because we as husbands have wounded them far more than they have wounded us. I know this is an overgeneralization, but I have observed this play out in many marriages.

My last two questions for us to answer.

1.) How hard is it for you to admit you are wrong about something?

2.) What is our opinion of ourselves and is it accurate from God’s perspective?

Every Good and Perfect Gift

Every Good and Perfect Gift

Every Good and Perfect Gift

The Book of James 1:17“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”

Every good thing is given and every perfect gift is from above; it comes down from the Father of lights (the Creator and Sustainer of the heavens) in whom there is no variation (no rising or setting) nor shadow cast by His turning (for He is perfect and never changes).

Humans are a funny bunch.

For the most part, they don’t know what they have until they lose it and they don’t have a real appreciation for the value of something until it’s gone.

I believe that in our walk and relationship with the Lord Jesus there are times that He must withhold certain things to teach us this lesson.

Getting right to the point, I have seen this withholding in my life especially in my relationship with Him. I have experienced His intimacy morning after morning during my quiet time hours.

Just like the story of the manna, you must feed on the Lord Jesus Christ daily to stay alive spiritually. It’s like being awakened from sleep or having a fog lifted from your being.

When He comes in His is manifest presence your mind, body, soul, and spirit respond to Him.

You receive from Him life, light, energy, love, and a host of gifts. You become one with Him and become more like Him.

I believe that He honors your willful choice to see Him, ask of Him, and knock on His door. This must be a constant daily practice. He has been so good to me in this regard over the years.

Randy is not only a great author but a great photographer. He takes all the images on his blogs.

Fellowship with Jesus is life itself.

But what happens when you go into a period of soul darkness? You may experience a valley of the soul when things seem dead or dark and the Lord seems far away.

You ask, where is the intimacy, the presence of the Lord, the joy, the supernatural power?

My personal experience has been one of a very challenging life, many difficulties having to do with mental peace and tranquility.

I have at times felt and experienced great mental and emotional turmoil, depression, loneliness, confusion, despair, extreme shame, and unstableness. There have been times in my life where I could barely cope with being here on this Earth.

This has been true for me from the early age of 5 and 6 as I have struggled with self-rejection believing that I was an outcast and different and that the world would never accept me, nor would I be accepted by society.

The lies of the enemy can start at an early age.

He is not respectful of any human.

My only way out of the turmoil of being a human and in practice the only thing that has made any sense to me was pursuing an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ. (God the Son and my Creator). The grace that He gives overrides so much of the frailty and what lacks in me.

It most definitely reflects best in the idea of being a new creation in Him. All of this comes from being in a close intimate relationship with Christ.

And so, when I am in a dry spell spiritually and lack these daily graces,

I do have a greater appreciation for His grace in every area of my life including my heart, my soul, my mind, my spirit, and my physical existence.

He sends grace on your relationships, your work, your ministry, and even the seemingly insignificant things.

I choose to keep pursuing Him and know that His intimacy and those daily graces will return if I wait on the Lord and have faith in His love.

Every Good and Perfect Gift

Examples of God’s Grace in My Life

1.) Waking up empty, cold, hard, distracted, passive spiritually and when you meet with God, coming before Him in whatever state, He comes to you in manifest power and His presence purges, cleanses, and enlightens, makes alive, energizes you (physically, spiritually, mentally) and you get to enjoy God and His goodness! “The chief end of man is to know God and to enjoy Him forever”

2.) He blesses your relationships with other periods you can always tell because the supernatural love and intimacy in possible without the Lord elevates the human relationship. It becomes a cord of 3. When I am away from the Lord, living and selfish sin, and being disobedient my relationships suffer.

3.) He makes your life significant by supernatural using you to love others and share him and his truth. He makes divine appointments that you would never experience on your own.

4.) He may bless you with little acts of kindness, delights and special moments as you live your life. You also get to enjoy the goodness of others prompted by Him. You just know in your heart that these blessings are from Him.

5.) Physical blessings of healing, health, and the ability to exercise enjoy exercise. And of course, mental health and intelligent thought.

6.) The grace to enjoy his creation, nature, beauty, and all of the arts.

7.) The resolution of differences in our relationships most often is a blessing from the Lord and impossible without His intervention.

8.) Correcting misconceptions, deception, and perceptions in our minds.

9.) Allowing us to have jobs or means to make a living that are satisfying and fulfilling, giving us purpose and significance.

10.) The continual process of sanctification – being made more like Jesus in His mind, His heart, His Spirit, His emotions, His purpose, His character, and His love.

And of course, many more!

Hope, forgiveness, our worth, prayer to change the world.
