Greatest Thing About Being a Christian

This was written primarily from the point of view of a single man, never married. God saw that Adam needed a mate, a union of oneness. Of course, from the revelation of Christ, we see the ultimate fulfillment of this idea.

There are many lonely people in the world. Those who never met a soul mate, never married, divorced folks, even broken families, parents who haven’t hear from their children in years.

Thankfully there are many strong Christian unions.

But the very fact that the idea of a Disney fairy tale exists, the idea of finding that perfect soul mate humans have the need and desire to connect on a deeper level. Ultimately, none of us who trust in Christ will be deprived of that gift.

“Bless and affectionately praise the Lord, O my soul. And all that is deep within me, bless His holy name.” Psalms 103:1

I think the greatest thing about being a Christian is the concept of the dream or desire to find your true love. In the flesh, it is illustrated in romantic love, that person whom you desire more than anyone else on Earth.

Not only do you hope to get all of them but your hope is that there never, ever be an interruption of your love relationship with them; the intimacy, the joy and the enjoyment of this person are not dying or uninterrupted.

You hope to explore everything that makes them tick…

… makes them who they are; unique and exciting and you can spend the rest of your time here on earth discovering new and interesting things about your beloved.

What if you don’t get to experience that here on earth? All is not lost!

Jesus is the ultimate object of our affection if we will receive Him into our hearts. If you want true love look no further. If you want perfect eternal love, look no further. If you want utterly satisfying and satiating Love, look no further.

I believe that when you go to heaven and you see Jesus for the first time you will completely understand and really know for the first time why God created you.

He created you to be loved and to enjoy Jesus for all of eternity.

Remember those days of longing here on earth, your pining to be connected to your soulmate. The fulfillment of that desire and dream is on its way.

You are just being prepared to enjoy it fully.

Oneness in Christ is possible for us in the body of Christ but ultimately no one needs despair if they feel deprived of marriage.

We will be one with Him, and also each other in heaven.

Wonderful hope!

Two Measures Foolish: Foolish to God for we sin – Foolish to the world for the cross.

Keeping Prayer Intellectually Interesting

Christian’s of all intellects and IQ’s find prayer challenging at times. All the common prayers (without training) fall into words used like help, bless, protect, love, heal, etc.

Of all my “helps” in prayer, the most superior one by far is using the Scriptures from the Bible.

For example, in praying for another person I could try to collect thoughts from my own mind or look for inspiration directly from the Holy Spirit into my mind,  but if I really want to have a richer, deeper, far more interesting prayer I can use the Word as an inspiration directly from God.

God became a man and dwelt among us (Jesus Christ) and communicated with us directly.

James 4:2 relays the truth that “we have not because we ask not”, meaning, God has given us an incredibly gift of being able to go to Him and actually ask for Him to do something, possibly something He won’t do unless we ask.

He so wants us to be intimately involved with Him that He limits His doing certain things to our asking Him.

Think of a father responding to the request of a child. He is delighted to grant the request if it falls into his general will of what is ultimately in the best interests of the child.

So, if we believe our lack of prayer could limit what God wants to do, then we would want to know what His general will is for His children, and that is most clearly and easily for in His written word.

Why waste time praying if you aren’t confident about what you are asking for?

Scriptures teaches that Christ Himself is praying for us on the Throne in heaven.  I want to know what He is praying and be in agreement with Him. I believe I can clearly find His will in the scriptures.

And so, I come “boldly unto the throne of grace and find help in time of need” because I can clearly determine God’s revealed will in the scriptures.

So how do you use scripture to pray?

Literally, an easy way to begin, open your Bible and pray, ” What is Your revealed will for me or Jon or Mom?”. Look for His revealed will. Look for the point He is trying to make or communicate. And then agree with Him!

Can we actually release the will of God from heaven onto the earth?

Let’s Meet for Coffee

Do you know how lucky we are, (and luck had nothing to do with it), that God became a man because of His wonderful mysterious love for us.

Try having an intimate, satisfying normal relationship with an infinitely powerful, all wise perfect gloriously Holy being.

We will be pondering aspect of our relationship with Him for the rest of eternity, but in the meantime, we need a God who came to Earth, who is about our size and who doesn’t mind sitting down with us in the morning and to a cup of coffee.

Yes. He wants to be that intimate, and I am thankful!
